Do you have a vision of your FUTURE SELF?
I think we all do and January is very often the month when we start to think about what would want to be become, but most people have fallen off by FEBRUARY because life gets busy and you lose motivation
But don’t let that vision of your future self just disappear. You OWE it to yourself.
Let me give you two possible FUTURES you may have to look forwards to if you are female heading into your 40’s & 50’s and I am honest, some of you may not like to read it………
Future 1
- You do nothing.
- Joint pain and low energy become normal and you think that’s how you should feel.
- You lose muscle at 1% per year increasing to 3-5% in menopause so you are getting weaker and slower as each year passes.
- Bone density reduces as you are not loading your bones sufficiently, getting worse as menopause hits so the risk of osteopenia/osteoporosis increases.
- Cholesterol increases and heart attack and stroke risk goes up as menopause approaches.
- You get out of breath quickly as you do no CV training and cant get up stairs easily.
- The risk of injury and falls goes up as you get weaker and lose stability.
- Mental health declines as you feel weak, everything is getting harder to manage and weight is piling on as your metabolism drops due to muscle loss.
- Work and relationships suffer as your mental health and confidence goes down – you start to feel old.
- You lose confidence and dislike what you see in the mirror.
- You panic as Summer looms and start doing crash diets and plans which mean you lose more muscle and gain more fat in time.
Future 2
- You join Rock and start strength training so you increase muscle mass which in turn helps improve your metabolism because muscle mass is the ONLY thing that can do this (forget the teas and juice boosters, it’s all a con)
- This means you get stronger slowly over time and you not only look better because you are getting toned up but you are walking and moving more in your daily life because you are stronger and feel like you can do more.
- You are no longer getting the joint pain you have been having and your bone health is improving with the risk of osteopenia/osteoporosis going down due to impact training and lifting.
- You also start doing some cardio because now you are in the swing of things, the community at the gym push you along and you have made a few mates who you want to catch up with at sessions.
- Heart health improves as you are doing CV training and as you have now started to eat better because of the coaching you get with nutrition, you are reducing the risk of high cholesterol which comes with menopause and lower levels of oestrogen.
- Your mental health is great and you finally feel supported, held accountable and wake up wanting to move more and live your life to the fullest.
- This improvement in self-worth rubs off on your relationships at home and work, you are more positive and fulfilled.
- Confidence grows and in time you lose some body fat even though you are eating more food, it’s just better quality so energy levels sky rocket and you are so glad you made the decision to start
- You set yourself a fitness challenge and you are fully invested and part of a great community
- You welcome a newbie into the gym and help them improve their life
Here is a post written by Ines, on our Rock Private member group this week
Today marks my 1st Rockversary
I wish I could run back to my past self in Feb 2024 and tell her how incredibly strong I’ll feel a year on.
Tell her that the end of that demoralising phase of pain and lack of fitness is just a few months away.
That everything that feels like a massive physical struggle now will ease off and nearly vanish, as Lisa predicts during my first assessment (when no Doctor or Specialist knows what’s wrong me. She has superpowers, believe me)
That I absolutely enjoy every session I turn up to and that I’ll completing around 150 of them that now I simply “worry” about being unable to go to the gym because of being busy, ill or injured, instead of worrying about leaving the house; that I love to see the familiar faces of the Rock gang – instructors and members – every time I walk into a class because they are all so welcoming.
Some of you have already been with Rock long enough to know what I am talking about, but for those who have just started on this journey: you can do this, be persistent… 12 months from now you’ll proud of yourself
I have a deal at the moment – Join us on a small group membership and pay only 50% of the cost for the first month and get 25% off the second month.
Just give yourself two months on the ONE program with us at Rock and see how your future self will thank you
